Small, romantic moments of everyday beauty. 

2. Is there a story behind this artwork?

I received a bouquet of hydrangeas last winter, and became enamored with sketching them each day. Initially they were quite elusive, I kept making them very detailed and complex and was fascinated with their essence of simplicity. This was the last sketch I did of them, when I finally feel like they revealed themselves.

3. How does this piece relate to your everyday life?

This piece speaks to my daily practice of cultivating presence and attuning to the beauty around me, as a way of understanding.

4. What message would you like your audience to understand about this particular artwork?

I think artwork is a deeply personal experience, so I try not to be too specific about ways of understanding it. I do hope this piece, and all of my work makes people feel connected to something. Even if just for a moment.
